Bombay Brasserie

Services | Restaurant Branding & Interior Design

Bombay Brasserie is an iconic Indian restaurant owned by the prestigious Taj Hotel group, located in the heart of Kensington, London.

Chef and Director, Sriram Aylur, asked us to refresh the overall identity of the restaurant which included a subtle update to the existing logo and a re-design of their menus and printed collateral, translating the evolved DNA into both the branding and interior design.

Design inspiration

Elements in the design were referenced directly from the interior details, such as the furniture and jali screens. The original illustration produced by Japani was produced at large scale and adorns the wall of the restaurant conservatory.

The print combines these elements with a minimal colour palette of gold and yellow with a readable typeface that has traditional and calligraphic qualities.

Design outcome

The graphic application includes beautiful colonial portraits, which are also found hanging inside the restaurant. We handpicked a selection of these portraits and applied them to the collateral randomly to create a point of interest amongst diners. We have also incorporated the beautiful hand-drawn illustration that is painted directly to the interior wall by the Indian artist Japani.

The refresh has contributed to a rise in visitors and has restored the faith of many of the restaurants regulars.
