Quarter Bar & Lounge, London Bridge Hotel

The client’s brief was to transform the tired interior of a neighbouring restaurant which had been bought back inhouse into a relaxed and stylish lounge and bar for its guests and the public. The design was to be in keeping with LBH’s established reputation and classic British interior.

A traditional British feel has been achieved by introducing grey wall paneling, cornicing and picture rails alongside statement wallpaper. A pewter bar was chosen for the material’s strong British heritage and to add grandeur to the lounge. The low-level lighting above the bar creates a feeling of intimacy. Warm palettes of varying greys offset with deep reds and rich olive greens soften and add charm, while the dark stained original parquet floor completes the modern yet classic look.

A portrait gallery of London-born literary, political and artistic figures, and commissioned artwork by critically acclaimed London artist Soozy Lipsey, adds an element of curiosity for visitors.

Designer Tim Burford comments “Everything ran extremely smoothly; utilizing existing features such as refurbishing the parquet floor, which was in poor condition, meant that in addition to being a sustainable option it also helped us to come in on budget and on time. The result is a quintessentially British interior with a sophisticated twist”.
