We were commissioned to create a destination hotel in the heart of Newcastle’s new commercial quarter.
The hotel owned by leading operators IHG was a completely new development in the area and therefore required careful planning and consideration to ensure that the design reflected the core values of the established Crowne Plaza brand.
Drawing inspiration from Newcastle’s industrial heritage, we created a stylish and contemporary design aesthetic, which translated through to all areas of the hotel including bedrooms, reception/meeting spaces and F&B areas.
Our designers utilised an urban palette of materials including mild steel, green porphyry stone and engineered timber to create a modern, inviting atmosphere that would attract business and social guests to the hotel.
Each room has a different layer of detail such as the striking atrium lighting designed with an impressive 25-meter bespoke chandelier, which injects warmth and character into the lobby space. The overall scheme evokes a ‘home from home’ feel for guests, connecting them to the cultural hub of the City.
