Alfresco

Located on the lower esplanade and opposite the now infamous dilapidated West Pier, the Alfresco Restaurant had been two years in the planning for a major refurbishment and extension. A new entrance position at lower promenade level on the eastern side was proposed. The new entrance is balanced architecturally on the western side by a new glass and steel structure with sliding folding doors, which facilitate ‘Alfresco’, style dining at beach level.

A new centralised bar creates a focal identity to the interior and this can be accessed direct from the lower promenade. A new convex backdrop within the restaurant provides banquette style seating with feature niches for placement of artwork and sculpture.

The project has been well received locally and was completed in May 2006.
